Misty River Cabins & RV Resort is located on 45 beautiful acres of flat land in the Smoky Mountains just out side of Townsend, with 2000 feet on the "Little River," with a view of mountains on one side and the river on the other. The only word to describe it is "Extraordinary." Misty River got it's name from an old moonshiner from Townsend, who said when he made his brew from the water in the river and sampled some of it, the river would look all misty to him and the name stuck. The moonshine stills are long gone, but the river is still just as beautiful as ever. As one of the premier campgrounds in the Townsend Tennessee area, Misty River Cabins & RV Resort is surrounded by the Smoky Mountains and the Little River flows along side of it for over 2000 feet so you can walk down to the river and stick your toes into the cool water. Misty River RV Park makes a perfect base camp for your tour of the Townsend area. You can go hiking on the Appalachian Trail, horseback riding in the Smoky Mountains, or caving at nearby Tuckaleechee Caverns in Townsend.
We are located in Walland TN about ½ way between Townsend Tennessee and Maryville TN just off of Hwy 321. Our area is known as "The Peaceful Side of the Smokies".
Misty River Campground has 54 Large Flat Pull-thru sites with some as long as 80 feet and 17 Large Back in sites, 30 & 50 AMP Service, New Modern Private Bathhouses that are Handicapped Accessible ( no gym showers here), Fire Pits, Cable TV, WiFi, Laundry, Fishing, RV Storage, Deluxe Cabin Rentals, Game Room, Pool and Hot Tub and 2000 feet of river front so you can play on the river.
Misty River Clubhouse offers a meeting facility that can accommodate groups with a 1600 sq foot meeting room. This facility is perfect for small weddings, receptions, or corporate retreats year round and a little restaurant with hot dogs, BBQ and ice cream!
If you don’t like camping take a look at one of our vacation cabin rental. You can reserve one of our Tennessee Log cabins or Lodges.
Camping in the Townsend TN area of the Great Smokey Mountains should be your first choice if you're looking for outstanding outdoor recreation. The Little River Run Bike Trail is the road in front of our campground. Our campground borders the Little River, which flows out of the National Park. The Little River is excellent for swimming or tubing and is well known for great trout fishing. The Tennessee Wildlife Resource Association stocks the river from our campground.
Out–of State firewood is Prohibit to the to prevent the spread of Emerald Ash Borer, or EAB. The areas already infested with EAB have exceeded 40,000 square miles in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and Ontario. We are the Gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains. Camping in the Townsend Tennessee area is great all year long. The kids can play in the swimming pool, tube in the river, fish in the river or just watch some fly fish. The campground was built for big rigs and smaller camper will fit in the large campsites just fine. !It is just a short drive thru WearsValley to get to Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg on Hwy 321 or you can go thru the Great Smoky MountainsNational Park on Hwy 73.
